Igba Nkwu! Two sisters gets married the same day.

3rd of April, 2021 was a memorable one in Igboland as two sisters got married same day.

Sylvia Ifeoma Duru and her sister Chidinma Duru (indeed ife di nma mere to show that Chi ha Dinma), had their Igba Nkwu the exact same day after the whole idea of sharing the Traditional wedding day started off as a mission impossible.

Both sisters got engaged by their partners in the first quarter of 2021.
The Big sister, Ifeoma's partner is Michael Uchenna Ebirim from inyishi, Ikeduru LGA, Imo State, Nigeria.
Chidinma's partner is Endurance Aigbe from Uselu, Benin city, Edo State, Nigeria.

However they had their different themes, SiMi'21 & ChEddy'21

Both grooms were seen smiling throughout the occasion.
Well, they are justified, he who finds a beautiful Igbo wife, finds a good thing.

Mrs Austa Duru (mother of the brides) said,

" I am the happiest mother on earth right now, I am double crowned."

"we initially wanted to separate the weddings but since my princesses wanted it this way, coupled with the fact that my son-in-laws concurred to it, we had to make it happen. It's their big day and their happiness is priority."

Although they bought and designed (by TransmogrIFY) their dresses the same day, the sisters wore the same famous isi Agu (isi Odum) but different styles  and colours - with IFEOMA wearing the black variant matching her husband's while CHIDINMA wore the wine variant.

The brides

The grooms.

The grooms performed the traditional rites (ime ego et al) one after the other, inline with the Igbo culture in Pius Duru's house then proceeded to the complete the Igba Ukwu in the
Sun-soaked grounds of Pius Duru's compound, Umuelele, Umuaghobe, (formerly Isikeneisi) in ideato South LGA, Imo State, Nigeria.

They cut their custom-made traditional wedding cake, offered palm wine to their husbands and even shared their first dance together.

"Despite the difficulty in coordinating two weddings the same day, I would recommend this, it was fun-filled and the guests were well catered for, my sisters were besties and it was a double celebration, kudos to my kinsmen for the support they rendered, I didn't anticipate that it was going to be this big". said Onyi (brother of the brides).

Due to the pandemic, the wedding was a "family vibe", with less than 200 people in attendance.

how to make your hair better

Hair is a reflection of your health & personality. If taken care of they can add to your beauty. Your hair and scalp needs proper care now and always. A sign of neglect over a period of time will show up in form of dry brittle hair, split-ends, hair fall, dandruff etc. From the moment you wake up to the time you go to sleep and if you are sleeping, there are many factors that can lead to hair breakage.

The following are some helpful ways that can help you:

Hair Wash: Wash your hair regularly. Follow your usual routine in applying shampoo onto hair. Some people use shampoo once everyday, other do it every other day and some do once a week. Using very hot or cold water can damage your hair.

Brushing your hair: Combing has to be done from the top to bottom. Start combing at the end of your hair. Go through some inches until all knots are combed out, and then restart some inches higher. You have to use a good hair brush. Don't buy those cheap plastic stuff. The problem is not that it might rip your hair, but it has an effect like glue which is sticky.

Hair Drying: Try to dry your hair in a natural way. Dry it up using a bath towel or you can make use an electric fan if you are in a hurry to make your hair dry. Frequent use of those hair dryer products can also damage your hair. Hair styles can also help avoid heavy hair fall.

Atmosphere: One major thing that can also affect your hair is the atmosphere. Like when you go to the beach, the heat of the sun and salt water can make your hair dry. Another factor is when you go swimming in a pool. The chlorinated water can damage your hair. You can cover your hair with a cloth or use swimming cap to cover your hair from sunlight.

Applying shampoo and conditioner: Use mild shampoos. Do not use those ones that has strong ingredients and swear to make your hair healthy and shiny. The stronger the ingredients are, the higher risk you have in damaging your hair. Also with conditioner, avoid using it regularly because it can also make your hair frizzy and more hair fall you will have.

Hair Style: We always want to have a different hair styles. The type of hair styles we have reflects our individuality and sometime it reflects our mood. Avoid frequent use of those styling products like hair straightening and curling iron because it will damage your hair.

Sleeping Pattern: Comb your hair before going to bed, do not let the bands or clips on. Even the way you sleep can affect your hair. Restless sleepers may actually be breaking hair as they sleep. If you're a restless sleeper, try a satin pillowcase so that the hair glides when you move in your sleep. On a regular cotton pillowcases, hair can get caught and break. Hair should be put in a ponytail on top of the head. Always use rubber bands that are wrapped in cloth.

We should always take care of our hair. It is one of the major part of our body that helps enhance our physical appearance. You must have a good diet because that helps a lot to make our hair healthy. Our hair is the reflection of our personality and health. We have to take good care of our body to achieve the kind of hair that we want.

prevention of hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a virus, or infection, that causes liver disease and inflammation (swelling) of the liver.

Hepatitis C virus is found in the blood of persons who have this disease. The infection is spread by contact with the blood of an infected person.

TIPS

1
Hepatitis C (HCV): Hepatitis C is a serious problem for some, but not others. Most persons who get hepatitis C carry the virus for the rest of their lives. Most of these persons have some liver damage but do not feel sick from the disease. Some persons with liver damage due to HCV may develop cirrhosis of the liver and liver failure which may take many years to develop.

2

You can protect yourself from HCV by minimizing your contact with human blood. For example, don’t ever shoot drugs and don’t share toothbrushes, razors, or other personal care articles.

3
HCV can be spread by sex, but this does not occur very often. If you are having sex you should always get tested just to be safe.

 4

Hepatitis C is NOT spread by breast feeding, sneezing, hugging, coughing, sharing utensils, food, water, and casual contact.

Can people with diabetes take alcohol?

People with diabetes can have a moderate amount of  alcohol. Research has shown that the risk of heart diseases (which is usually increased in people with diabetes) can be reduced by moderate consumption of alcohol. If you have any questions about whether alcohol is safe for you, check with your doctor. People with diabetes should follow the same guidelines as those without diabetes if they choose to drink:
  • Women should have no more than 1 drink per day.
  • Men should have no more than 2 drinks per day.
*One drink is equal to a 12 oz beer, 5 oz glass of wine, 1 oz of alcoholic herbal drink (alomo bitters)  or 1 ½ oz distilled spirits (vodka, whiskey, gin, etc.).

Here are some tips

If you have diabetes, practice caution when drinking. Never drink on an empty stomach or when your blood glucose level is low. If you choose to drink, follow the guidelines above and have it with food. This is especially important for those on insulin and diabetes pills such as sulfonylurea and meglitinides (Prandin), which lower blood glucose by making more insulin.
  • Do not omit food from your regular meal plan and replace it with alcohol. (If you use carbohydrate counting to plan meals, do not count alcohol in your plan as a carbohydrate choice.)
  • Sip your drink slowly to savor it and make it last.
  • Have a zero calorie beverage by your side to keep yourself hydrated like water, diet soda or iced tea.
  • For mixed drinks, choose calorie-free drink mixers like diet soda, club soda, diet tonic water or water.
  • Do not drive or plan to drive for several hours after you drink alcohol.
Alcohol can cause hypoglycemia shortly after drinking and for up to 24 hours after drinking. If you are going to drink alcohol, check your blood glucose before you drink while you drink and for up to 24 hours. You should also check your blood glucose before you go to bed to make sure it is at a safe level – between 100 and 140 mg/dL. If your blood glucose is low, eat something to raise it.

Takeaways
  • If you choose to drink alcohol, follow the guidelines above and have it with food. Talk with your health care team about whether alcohol is safe for you.
  • If you drink alcohol at least several times a week, make sure your doctor knows this before he/she prescribes a diabetes pill.
  • Drink only when and if blood glucose is under control. Test blood glucose (if prescribed) to help you decide if you should drink.

Launchers make your device look wow, and regardless of the make of the device, a good launcher can make your phone look expensive *wink* .

I haven't tried all launchers in the PLAY STORE but below are the few I've used.

*Solo launcher - it's a simple launcher, person fit no know say u install launcher sef because it's blends with the phone, but I most say it is really 'POWERFUL'.

*SMART LAUNCHER - it arranges your app and icons in a ring format, makes it look very cool, its quite simple too..

*NEXT LAUNCHER - it's a gamers launcher, it has the coolest 3D effect.. it turns your device into a 'mini TRANSFORMER' .. LOL .. (from my observation, E DEY CHOP BATTERY SHA).

*APUS LAUNCHER - I call it the 'lovers launcher', it has this new feature that allows you to change the wallpaper on your device and it changes that of your lover too, isn't that lovely? .. Apus launcher has a lot of downloadable themes to choose from (the PINKO theme Na my favourite sha).

*APEX LAUNCHER - it's a clever launcher, with a lot of features, it has a paid version which is 'cooler' with drawer and gesture controls.

*ACTION LAUNCHER - Is your device running on Android lollipop? if yes, abeg download action launcher, it totally embraces the lollipop version, with it wonderful transition effect.

GO LAUNCHER - how could I do this without mentioning the GO launcher, I guess it's the most popular launcher on Google play, it's cool 'sha' ... at least a lot of people like it, it has millions of downloads.

NOVA LAUNCHER - Nova launcher is a nice launcher, it has a feature or two from all the launchers mentioned above and got a good rating from it's user with over 4.5 star.

HOW TO QUIT SMOKING

Not every addiction is a bad thing, but addiction to smoking cigarettes is a bad thing.

Below are tips to quit smoking or to cut down the smoking habit :

*Make up your mind to quit, it's only you that can easily make yourself quit cigarettes.

* Know how much you’re smoking – keep a written record. If you smoke automatically, without paying much attention to the habit, it’s easy to smoke more.
Ask yourself before each cigarette: do I really need it? Can I postpone smoking it or even just leave it? Practise regaining psychological control. You can use various other ploys to make yourself more aware of each cigarette: smoke in a specific, unusual place (try facing into a corner, for example), or use your opposite hand to hold the cigarette.

* Analyse your other habits, e.g. eating, drinking alcohol, visiting the bunk (ghetto smoking chamber), spending time in smokey environments or with other smokers. Work on changing any behaviours that are conducive to smoking.

*Decide in advance how many cigarettes you'll smoke the following day, and remove the rest from the pack, as it would force to not to smoke more than you budgeted.

*Put off lighting your first cigarette of the day a little later each day, don't start your day with cigarettes.

*Don’t smoke cigarettes down to the butt. Smoke them only half or three-quarters.

*Change to a brand you don’t like. Or, try changing to a milder brand a few weeks before your quit date to help your body get accustomed to less nicotine - but make sure you don’t smoke more mild cigarettes, inhale them more, or cover the holes in the filters, so if you take the Marlboro brand change to Dorchester or any other brand you really don't like.

*Don't empty your ashtrays: this reminds you of how many cigarettes you've smoked each day, and is aesthetically unappealing. Some people keep their cigarette butts in a glass jar as graphic evidence of their ‘dirty habit’.

*Put your cigarettes in places that are awkward to reach (like on a high shelf), or keep them in hard-to-open containers. This also helps to make you more conscious of each cigarette smoked. ( I once told my friend who is an Arsenal fan to keep his cigarettes in the Champions league Trophy. LoL. #JustKidding)

*Finish one pack before you buy another, and don’t buy cigarettes in bulk.

*Don’t carry cigarettes on you when you go out, so you won't take them when you go out.

*Don’t ask for or accept cigarettes from other smokers.

*Ask successful ex-smokers what methods they use to stay on the straight and narrow, and consider incorporating these into your own life.

*Start thinking about a quit date.
